About Seahorse Massage

Seahorse Massage has come about through a varied and circuitous path.  It involves three aspects of my life that when put together make up a big part of who I am, what I love,  and where my passions lie.  All of these interests fuel my love and motivation of the healing arts.

In the very beginning, there was and still is the love of the horse.  At the age of six, I took my first riding lesson.  Over three decades later, I am still riding.  I have owned, shown, leased, trained, worked, fallen off, and massaged numerous horses, and been acquainted with numerous barns.  Quite simply, I still love and continue to be enchanted by the noble equine.

The second part of Seahorse Massage has come about by way of water.  Through no fault of my own,  I was born into a family who have been and continue to be grateful stewards of an island off the coast of Maine.  Lest one think this is an idyllic existence;  I can assure you it comes with its fair share of trials and tribulations, not to mention the ever changing and powerful Atlantic Ocean of the Gulf of Maine.
That said, my island upbringing has fostered an unquenchable love and passion for being outside, on the water.  I have been a commercial fisherman for over ten years.  I am the proud owner and operator of my 30 foot Young Brothers lobster boat named Constance.  We fish for lobster and crab from May to Christmas.  Depending on state quotas and allowances, we trap shrimp during the winter months.

The third and final part of Seahorse Massage came about by way of traumatic fate? Destiny? Circumstance?  You pick.  During September 2001 I was involved in a brutal car accident.  I survived and I am not paralyzed.  That said, I have had over 20 surgeries.  I have limited breathing, and my voice has been rendered "scratchy" at best.  It took me a little over a year to regain my footing, and another three to feel like I was indeed, going to be okay.
Nevertheless, my accident has provided me with a silver lining outlook on life.  It has fostered an interest in healing the human - both in body and spirit.  It has awakened an interest in the many avenues of healing that massage can offer.  In some cases, it has let me provide at least a small amount of relief from pain and healing to those individuals ( and horses) who may need it.  It is my sincere hope, that in some small way, I can help one heal in whatever form that may take.  In much the same way, that I too was helped.   One day at a time.
It is always an honor to work with an individual who allows it.  May our wounds be healed with good health, love, compassion, a little bit of understanding, happiness, and the passage of time.
